Union Black (Deluxe Edition)
The hotly anticipated all new deluxe version from ragga punk maestros Skindred, Union Black is already teasing fans with the brutal new single Doom Riff which is on a TV near you and having great rotation on Kerrang, Scuzz, and many others. The album, recorded at Britannia Row studios by So Solid Crew Producer James Loughrey, carries a much more Britsh Skindred sound to it drawing its influences not only from Metal, Rock, Reggae and Dancehall but also from Dub Step and other contemporary sources. the album contains poignant songs addressing topics such as Knife and Gun Crime. Tracks such as Cut Dem, written about the stabbing of singer Benji Webbes son, as well as other gritty songs inspired by their surroundings, Skindred paint an alternative picture of modern multi cultural Britain. Added to the Union Black release are the numerous audios and videos to represent Skindred in a live capacity and that is something Skindred win awards for. Last year Skindred won awards at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods as the Best Live Band and the band also won the Kerrang Magazine Devotion award. If you are looking to buy an album that packs a punch as well as a tune then look no further.
Bob Dylans Country Selection
Although young Bobby Zimmerman famously inscribed a friends high school yearbook with the words to join Little Richard when referring to his future plans, there is far more to Bob Dylans formative years than rock n roll. Dylans admiration for country music started at a young age and two early handwritten pieces that have surfaced, The Drunkards Son and Little Buddy, both transcribed by Dylan by the age of sixteen, confirm this. These two Hank Snow songs may have been in the large collection of 78s owned by Matt Helstrom, the father of Dylans 11th-grade sweetheart Echo. Bob spent many hours at the Helstroms home listening to Matts collection a selection teeming with Hank Snow, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers and Bill Monroe. This music was to leave an impression on Bobs psyche that would return to the fore at various points throughout his long career. The tracks included in this collection are presented roughly chronologically as Dylan performed them from 1960 to 2002.
Reverie
Reverie is the incredible self-produced twelfth studio album by the brilliant and American musician Joe Henry, whose music career has spanned over twenty five years, and is the follow up to his 2009 album Blood From Stars. Most specifically dipped in the genres of alternative country, jazz, rock and folk, this album is a perfect melting pot of all of these styles of music. This adventurous take on melody allows each genre to blend with the other, to create this incredible fusion of original musical direction that Henry has perfected and claimed as his own. One of the most stand out tracks on this album is the innovatively produced song entitled Odetta. The song contains a darkly styled country melody, combined with a single dependable thumping drum beat and slightly jazzy piano parts, which all play out in the background to the pour of Henry's incredibly smooth and husky vocals.Yet another brilliant addition to Joe Henry's already very impressive discography.
