Johnny Cash is undoubtedly one of the most influential music artists of the 20th Century. With an illustrious career spanning nearly half a century, Cash covered country, rockabilly, rock and roll, folk, blues, and even gospel. IV: The Soul of Truth' celebrates what would have been The Man In Black's 80th birthday, with 51 tracks of both previously released and unreleased material across two discs. Focusing mainly on his gospel and spiritual music from the '70s and '80s, this wonderful set collates three albums in their entirety; 'A Believer Sings the Truth', an untitled, unreleased 1975 set, and 'Johnny Cash Gospel Singer'. The tracks 'Lay Me Down in Dixie (with Cindy Cash)', 'Wings in the Morning ', and 'Half a Mile a Day' feature alongside such unreleased numbers as 'Back in the Fold', 'Don't Give Up On Me', and 'Our Little Old Home Town', to make for a truly outstanding compilation. These recordings proved hugely important to the career of a true legend and, complete with liner notes from his son John Carter Cash, this treasure trove of understated hits is bound to be appreciated by fans of Cash, gospel, and soul.
