Powerful vocals, drums, heavy focus on guitar, if these sounds like your type of music then you like your rock music! But how did it begin and what influenced the rock music genre? This genre, also known as Rock and Roll too many was introduced in the 1950’s and was popular amongst places in America and Europe. Rock music is a genre which bases on older style music such as rhythm and blues.

The famous Elvis Presley is one of the earliest examples of Rock and Roll, he excited the world with his powerful music and his suggestive dancing moves, becoming an instant wonder and was the core of rock music as more and more rock musicians flourished. 1960’s, the Beatles were formed, inspired by rhythm and blues songs and becoming a massively loved band and still today people continue to love there music.

Today rock music is branched into a wide variety of styles. Rock music has produced many famous artists and inspires many more; Bob Dylan is an example of a Folk Rock Musician this type of Rock Music tends to consist of an acoustic guitar and socially conscious lyrics. Psychedelic Rock Music is a strange style of rock influenced by the usage of drugs like LSD, a popular band that came from this style is Pink Floyd.

They are many more examples that could be given of different rock musicians in different sub-genres of rock. A well followed style is heavy metal which has sounds of extreme guitar playing. Two early bands of this style which came out in the mid 70’s are Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath; these are the bands that influenced many more such as Metallica and Megadeth, all very popular artists in the world of Rock music.
